Service offered to young mothers

We offer young women the opportunity to continue with their education both before and after their babies are born.

The pupils attend mainstream classes and follow a slightly reduced timetable of subjects. This enables them to access an enhanced curriculum specific to being a parent and gives them valuable study periods.

Within the school setting we have a very well equipped nursery.  This is run by two experienced Early Years Practitioners.  Mums are timetabled to spend one period per week in the nursery and also have part of their lunchtime in the YMU with their babies.

As well as mainstream subjects, girls are also offered extra-curricular opportunities via a variety of partner agencies to enhance their learning and understanding of parenthood.

There is more information in the leaflet in the department documents section.
