Why study Mathematics?
At St John’s RC High School every member of the Mathematics department is committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential. Studying Mathematics provides the skills for making decisions both inside and outside the classroom.
These decisions can be making sure you are planning enough time for a journey or making sure you get the correct change from a shop. Mathematics can also be used to make important life decisions such as choosing the best mortgage for your property.
In school Mathematics is used in science and other subjects and also provides access to University courses such as engineering, sciences and primary teaching.
Outside of school Mathematics and Numeracy are used in a wide range of jobs. Mathematics is also vital in research and can be used to analyse and solve problems.
