Dundee College Roadshow

Dundee College Roadshow

Dundee College staff visit the school to give a presentation on further education opportunities.  This will take place in the assembly hall during periods 1 and 2.

S4 pupils have an opportunity to find out about further education at Dundee University.  Presentations will be given by a range of staff from the college.  Further information from Mr Watson or any Guidance teacher.  

Staff from Dundee College delivered the careers presentation to S4 pupils at Menzieshill High School at 9.00 am on Fri 22 January 2010.

Parent Council Meeting

A meeting of Menzieshill High School Parent Council will be held in the Meeting Room, Menzieshill High School at 6.30 pm.

Please note earlier start, this is for training on Glow for parents.

S5/S6 Prelims

S5/S6 Prelim exam information assembly

The S5/S6 Prelims are very important examinations and study towards exam success should be given a high priority.

Advice is given to pupils during classes, during Social Education and at assemblies.

You can check out the time table and our advice here:

All S5 and S6 pupils are expected to return to school on Thu 4 Feb.

Rag Bag Textile Recycling

Rag Bag LogoThe next “Rag Bag” collection will be Wed 3 March 2010. 

Why not donate any unwanted clothes, belts, shoes, etc to a good cause and raise a bit of cash for school funds? 

Bags for any donations can be picked up from Mr Thompson in Room GB06 or Guidance Base.  

Go on, have a January “clear out” and help others at the same time!

Every pupil has a personal school email address which we will use.

Current Daily Bulletin

The Current Daily Bulletin for pupils is updated immediately on the website, is displayed in the middle social area and read out every morning in registration.

Every pupil has access to at least one of these sources.

Second year Menzieshill High School pupils have been busy writing letters to some famous people in order to promote reading and to find out the favourite book of their chosen famous person.  Story:

European Computer Driving Licence First

Menzieshill High School seniors are the first in Dundee to gain their European Driving Licence using the new Office 2007 format.   Congtaulations to Billy Douglas and Samantha Trail.  Story:

First Aid Awards

First Aid Awards

Menzieshill High School senior pupils and staff have gained their Emergency First Aid Certificates.

They were trained for the award as part of their sports leader award course by the St Andrew’s Ambulance Association.

The school is grateful to George McLean of the Association who led the course in the school. The certificate will be of great use to all in their contribution to school and community activities. Well done! Story and more pictures:

Model Club Awards

Menzieshill High School Model Club held their annual competition in December.  The competitors were pictured hard at work and with the winning entries.  Story:

Carpet bowling awards

Eight pupils successfully took part in Dundee City Council’s Sports Carpet Bowls Competition at Douglas Sports Centre in December.
They are pictured above receiving their certificates fro George Laidlaw Head Teacher. Katie McDonald 5A1, Arianne Iannetta 2A1, Nikki Green 2A2, Jacqueline Neill 1W1, Robyn O’Brien 1W1, Connor McAteer 1F1, Michael Wallace 1F1, Christopher Wilson 1F1. They were accompanied by staff members Beverley Smith (School Support Worker), Kerri Abbott (Pupil Support Worker) and Lorraine Carlin (Classroom Assistant).

Rachel wins Churchill award

Rachel Bell of Menzieshill High School came in second place in the prestigious UK national essay competition called the Churchill Award - ‘Pleasure in the task of writing’ This is the first year that the competition has taken place and the award is run by The Churchill Centre and Churchill Museum at the Cabinet War Rooms in London. Rachel, who is now studying History and English at University, has won a £50 prize, a certificate of recognition from the centre and books for the library.  Story:

Menzieshill High School awards languages prizes to pupils for excellence in French and German.

Winners for last term were: S1 Raegan Butchart, S2 Chris Vannart and Rachel Beattie and S3 Kirsty Smith and S1 Philip McLaren, S2 Ross Starke and S3 Bethany Digan.
