Information for pupils, staff and parents

Together we can... raise attainment.

The S3 Examination timetable runs from Monday 30 March - Friday 1 May 2009.  To ensure that as little teaching time as possible is lost, almost all exams will be held during planned lesson time.  This is a change from previous years.

You can find more detail of the arrangements given to pupils on the school website (much also downloadable).  You will also find out more about what I said at the special S3 assembly and some tips on study skills.

S3 pupils are about to sit their first 'formal' examinations.  Study towards exam success should be given a high priority.  It is important that all pupils prepare as well as they can for these examinations.  Pupils do well when they work hard and follow advice.

We hope our current S3 will do well this year.  Results will improve when pupils, parents and staff work in partnership.  All ‘written exams’ will take place in the first two weeks back after the holidays.  Parents are asked to encourage pupils to plan for their exams and to give some time to revision.

Study leave

S3 pupils DO NOT have 'study leave'.  They are either in an exam or in class.  Where exams have to be held in the hall or for practicals, lists and rooms will be displayed in the social area and will be issued to pupils and teachers.

Absence

Pupils involved MUST attend all exams.  Pupils are reminded that lateness affects others and will affect others, so please be on time.  If you are absent for medical reasons then you must bring in a note from home.

Room arrangements

English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Physical Education exams will take place in the hall.

Practical exams: Home Economics and Art will take place in departments.

All other class exams will take place in normal classrooms.

S3 examinations help provide a record of achievement and reports to parents.  It is important that pupils are well prepared, turn up in good time for each exam and perform to the best of their ability.

I wish all pupils success in the forthcoming examinations.

Good Luck!
