MSP Joe Fitzpatrick visits MHS

Constituency MSP Joe Fitzpatrick visited MHS on Friday 6 December to speak with senior pupils. After a break introduction, Joe went 'open to question' fielding, not unsurprisingly a range of questions relating to the independence referendum.

The Modern Studies Department again thanks Joe for his support and co-operation.

After a brief introduction, Jim invited questions from a large group of S4-6 pupils. Issues raised by pupils included the 2014 referendum, MPs pay, the ways and issues on which MPs represent their constituents and the debate over votes at 16 years of age.

The Lion King

A Music department trip to Edinburgh
The Lion King

Pupils outside The Playhouse

47 pupils and 5 staff went to see the stage musical of The Lion King at Edinburgh Playhouse on Wednesday 20th November.  We went for a meal before the performance where pupils of all year groups were able to chat and relax together.  The performance was spectacular, especially the costumes.  Some pupils got a very close up view of some of the animals as they walked through the aisles right past our seats!  Here are some comments from pupils about the evening:

‘I really enjoyed going to see The Lion King Musical because the costumes, music and the way in which the animals interacted with the audience was amazing.’

‘I really enjoyed going to Edinburgh – it was great!  We went to Pizza Hut for dinner which I enjoyed because I got to chat with my friends.  The performance itself was unbelievable!  The costumes were great and so was the music.  I would recommend it to anyone!’

‘The Lion King was a good night out in Edinburgh and was great experience for the young and old.  The music was enjoyable and my favourite was Hakuna Matata.’
