Rag Bag Textile Recycling
The Rag Bag Recycling Scheme has been developed to raise awareness of Textile Recycling.
We run a scheme in Menzieshill High School, organised by Mr Thompson.
Rag Bag helps us help others ... it also us raises money.
Mr Thompson organises the event and provide all materials for free.
All you have to do is bring in bags of unwanted clothing!
Rag Bag pick the bags up on the agreed date, weight them and within a week or so will send our cheque out!
What Happens to the Textiles?
Textiles are sorted into about 40 different types, graded according to quality and then baled at the factory in Denny, Central Scotland for reuse or recycling. Good quality textiles are exported to parts of Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, providing good quality affordable second hand clothing. Poor quality textiles are shredded and used as mattress fillers and industrial wiping cloths e.g. for oil and printing industries.

Reminder

The next “Rag Bag” collection will be Thu 5 February 2009.
Why not donate any unwanted clothes, belts, shoes, etc to a good cause and raise a bit of cash for school funds?
Bags for any donations can be picked up from Mr Thompson in Room GB06 or Guidance Base.
Go on, have a January “clear out” and help others at the same time!
