Next Steps: The Uganda Trip 2008

… for our Uganda programme:

  • Report back to parents and teachers on the impact we made
  • Continue to improve the life chances of others
  • Survey pupils and staff to obtain feedback
  • Showcase the programme to pupils, parents, and community on the website and through the local media.
  • Thank all those involved for their contribution and co-operation with the event.

Thanks to the pupils and staff of Menzieshill High School

    and

Thanks to our sponsors for their support with the project

And, finally, we will do some sightseeing

  • Borehole project

At various times of the year, we spend a great deal of time in choosing presents for people who very often do not need more possessions.

This year, why not give the presents to people who need them more?

Make a birthday or event really special.

What next?

  • If you feel you would like to help any of the children in the Namutamba school, 20 of the children we met have now been selected to be sponsored through Mission International. It costs £5 a month for one area for a child – education, health insurance, food, or accommodation. Or you can sponsor the child in all areas for £20 a month. The school keeps a record pinned on the wood in the office hut of contact with sponsors, which can be done through the charity. For more information see :

  • Christmas cards made by S1 pupils are available through the office or at the Christmas Concert. Each card costs 50p and will pay for food on Christmas day for one child at the Hope Centre in Burundi. Uganda’s neighbour Burundi is now the poorest country in the world. The Hope Centre has a special connection with Menzieshill – the woman who runs this orphanage came to Uganda to see us during our stay – she is former pupil Valerie Butchart!
  • The borehole which will transform the lives of the whole community at Namutamba will cost £5,000. At present we have £700. If you have ideas, energy or spare time and can help with this fund, please contact Mrs Hynie.

As there are no additional costs, all money will go straight to these projects.
