S5/S6 Prelim exam information assembly

S5/S6 Prelims

The S5/S6 Prelims are very important examinations and study towards exam success should be given a high priority.

While I acknowledge the difficulty of balancing school work, social life and possibly a part-time job, it is important that all pupils prepare as well as they can for these examinations.

Research has shown for example that working in a part time job for more than 10 hours per week adversely affects study, and consequently will have a damaging effect on likely success in examinations.

I am heartened by the number of pupils who have recently attended our Supported Study classes and by the commitment they have shown.

I wish all pupils success in the forthcoming examinations.

These examinations bring formal recognition of achievement and it is important that pupils are well prepared, turn up in good time for each exam and perform to the best of their ability.

They are also very important in allowing us to estimate likely success in the final examinations and provide evidence to support appeals should anything unexpected happen.

Please note that mobile phones or pagers are not allowed in examination rooms. We have no facility to look after them and so these must not be brought into school when sitting an exam.
