Parents as partners

Menzieshill High School is fully committed to partnerships with parents. We have an active Parent Council in place and hold regular meetings. The Parent Forum are encouraged to be fully involved in the life and work of the school.

The objectives of the Menzieshill High School Parent Council are:

  •        To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents
  •        To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils
  •        To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils

Parental Events

Parent Forum: Raising attainment
Revision and Prelim exam preparation

Thu 3 December 2009

6.30pm – 8.30pm

You are invited to join us to experience study techniques related to revision and prelim exam preparation. The event will be held in School and will last around two hours. Refreshments, courtesy of the Parent Council, will be available. This will be of particular interest if your child is preparing for SQA exams. Whilst this will be of immediate interest to parents of learners preparing for S5/S6 prelims it will also be of benefit to parents of those in other years.

2009 Christmas Market and Concert

Please support The Christmas Market and the Christmas Concert on on Wed 9 December.

Funds will go to improvement of the Assembly Hall facilities and to support individual school clubs and events.

A training session was arranged for Parent Council members in the Menzieshill cluster group on Thu 29 May in Menzieshill High School.

The school have made a response to the Council on parking issues.   We have asked for zig zag lines, a bus shelter and car park lining.

Education Committee Improvements

Footpath improvements and pedestrian/traffic segregation - £16,500 and Replacement Fire Doors - £10,000 are to take place over the summer.  The finance was approved at the 8 June Education Committee meeting.

 

Information on grant requests

Grant Requests

The Parent Council engage in fund raising activities to support the education and welfare of the pupils.  Applications are invited for small grants (around £50) to support individual or group extra-curricular activities, trips, events, or department awards.  Applications may be made for activities before the end of this term or in preparation for the start of next session.

Menzieshill Health Partnership

This is a unique partnership supported by a range of agencies represented in the West of Dundee. We aim to provide health and fitness advice for pupils, staff and community; health equipment for community and school use and school and community access to a community facility.

The new £420,000 community health facility was officially opened at Menzieshill High School on Tue 17 June 2008.
