Content of Standard Grade Course

Three main areas of study:

• Social, economic and political developments in Scotland and Britain from the 1830s to the 1930s.
• International relations and wars from the 1890s to the 1920s – World War One
• Developments in Germany from 1918 to 1939, including the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

Teaching methods will vary, from pupil-based learning to formal teaching. Considerable use will be made of video material and computer software as well as written historical sources.

Standard Grade History will enrich a pupil’s culture and education. The skills taught in this course are of considerable help in other subject areas.
