Content of Standard Grade Course

This course encourages pupils who have a General/Credit recommendation to realise their musical potential through performing, inventing and listening activitives by

• Developing an understanding of the use of technology and recording two “live” performances using the appropriate equipment.
• Playing one musical instrument (or voice) which is recorded and assessed.
• Developing their Inventing Skills through composition. 
• Expanding their knowledge and understanding of both classical and contemporary musical styles.

 

Assessment

External Exam:

• Sound Engineering and Production Folio
• Recorded performance (minimum 4 mins)
• Listening

Internal Assessment:

• Group performance
•  Inventing

 

Career Relevance

Music courses are recognised qualifications to Further Education.
