Welcome to Menzieshill High School
Thank you for considering sending your child to Menzieshill High School. The decision about which secondary school your child should attend is a most important one and should not be made without a great deal of thought and accurate information. I hope you will find this section of our site informative and useful.
Menzieshill High School is a modern, purpose-built school on a greenfield site. In September 2007 the school roll was 730 pupils. We can offer your child a full range of academic courses from First to Sixth Year. There is a wide range of subjects to choose from and all our courses are designed to meet the needs of your child. Menzieshill High School is a happy, caring and well-disciplined part of the community. Our aims are to encourage your child to play a full part in the life of the school and to provide learning opportunities which will enable all our pupils, whatever their abilities, to realise their potential, and to become responsible, caring adults. To achieve our aims, we encourage self-discipline and self-motivation in all our pupils. This includes respect for others and their points of view.
We believe in establishing extremely close links between the home and the school. Your help as a parent is central to our philosophy and essential for its success. You will be welcome here at any time to discuss your child’s progress.
Should you wish to place your child here, or if the Education Department has offered you a place, please telephone the school office to arrange an appointment to see me.
As part of our Primary – Secondary Liaison work you may also wish to visit the school early in June when we have a two day induction visit for pupils. Please do not hesitate to contact one of the Depute Head Teachers in charge of our three Houses or one of the House Guidance teachers should you require further information. I look forward to meeting you in the future and receiving your support.
Yours sincerely

George Laidlaw Head Teacher.
